A man is due to stand trial accused of attempting to sexually assault an on-duty police officer in Sheffield, after he denied the charge in court.

Luca Jelic appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday, July 13 for a plea hearing, charged with attempting to rape a woman, assaulting two police officers and sexually assaulting one of the officers.

Jelic, 29, of Scotland Street, Sheffield city centre is also charged with possession of class A drugs and criminal damage.

He entered not guilty pleas to all charges, and is now due to stand trial at Sheffield Crown Court on September 3 this year.

Jelic was arrested following an incident in the early hours of April 27, when two police officers were allegedly assaulted while investigating a report of an attempted rape on Scotland Street.
