Man killed in Sheffield crash

Police are appealing for information after a man died following a collision on Thurgoland Bank on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred shortly before 5pm on Saturday (10 October) when a grey coloured Vauxhall Astra estate car travelling towards Oxspring collided with a black Ford Mondeo travelling in the opposite direction.

A 37-year-old man from Stockbridge, who was driving the mondeo, died of his injuries.

The 36-year-old man, who was driving the astra, was taken to Northern General Hospital with serious injuries.

He has also been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone with who saw either vehicle in the time immediately prior to the collision taking place to come forward.
