Man cut from car in Isle road collision

Two men were taken to hospital following a lunchtime collision in the Isle yesterday (Monday).

The crash occurred just before 1pm on Belton Road, near to the Trolleybus Museum, and involved a white BMW and a Toyota Yaris.

Fire crews released the trapped driver of one vehicle, who was finally removed from the car on a spinal board and fitted with a neck collar by ambulance staff before being taken to hospital.

The female driver of the second car freed herself. Her elderly male passenger was given oxygen therapy at the scene then was transported to hospital.

The road was closed for some time by police to allow a clear-up operation. Fire crews from Scunthorpe, Epworth and Crowle used cutting gear to make fencing that was damaged by the collision safe.
