Following the search for a missing sailor who went overboard at Gunness on Wednesday night during gale force weather, lifeboat volunteers based at Hessle Foreshore have responded to reports of a possible in the water near to Burton Stather.
The call for Humber Rescue came in at 8.44am today (December 20) and rescue boat Hillary P Berriff was launched in response.
On scene the team worked in partnership with Humberside Police and the HM Coastguard to search the immediate area but in the event this turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.
Dave Roberts, Chairman, Trustee & Coxswain at Humber Rescue said: “Although nothing was found on this occasion, this does serve to illustrate how those living in the community remain vigilant on behalf of the emergency services and we thank them for that”.
Crew returned to their boathouse at approximately 10.45am.
