Jobs galore for Parkgate

ELECTRONICS retailer Best Buy will open a new Parkgate store in June. The chain store that has been in the UK for a year, has created about 100 local jobs and will run a pilot apprenticeship scheme.

The store will offer home cinema equipment, computing technology, entertainment devices, appliances, mobiles, music, movies and games.

A new Frankie & Benny’s restaurant will also open later this year, which – together with newcomers Currys Megastore, ASDA Living and Maplin could bring another 150 jobs.

DENABY Main’s council estates are to be spruced-up next week, as the council supplies skips and man-power to tidy the streets.

St Leger Homes is funding clean-up days in the Manor Court area on May 16, and at Lincoln Close on May 19.

And the Harrogate Drive Community Centre will also have repairs and a revamp carried out by offenders on the community payback scheme.

WOMBWELL Wood is blue-min fantastic! The 362-acre woodland is in the Forestry Commission’s top 10 bluebell beauty spots, rivalling others such as Coniston Water in the Lake District and Hampshire’s New Forest. The wood is also renowned for its gnarled old oaks and as a wildlife haven.

Forester Helen Walton said: “Wombwell Wood is joyful place to visit in the spring, and important for its wild flowers, like bluebells.”
