Isle's Jody scoops top beauty award
Her response to a random email led an Isle business owner to a top national title.
Epworth-based Jody Taylor is the UK Beauty Therapist of the Year after impressing a panel of judges with the personal care she extends to all her clients .
Her award was announced at a glittering ceremony in London, and her initial response, she said, was “total shock”.
Jody, 36, bases her business, Skin Deep, in a salon at Fountain Court, Epworth, that she opened in October 2015.
She has wide experience as a therapist both working within the beauty industry and as a teacher/lecturer.
The Professional Beauty Awards celebrate those who ‘go above and beyond in the beauty, spa, nails and aesthetics markets’.
It attracts hundreds of entries for 11 categories, and winners receive a trophy, and then go on to be profiled in the trade’s Professional Beauty magazine.
Individuals who take part are judged via a live treatment test and interview, to ‘ensure standards are kept rigorously high’.
Jody, of Owston Ferry, added: “I’m still stunned. I’m actually a facial specialist but because my body treatments were judged very highly I was thought to be a body therapist by the judges at one stage in the competition.”
She continued: “The judges liked the fact that I am extremely client-orientated and listen to people very carefully so that I can adapt every single treatment to the needs of the client.”
Jody has also undertaken specialist brand training, and chose her salon site carefully to give clients both privacy and dedicated care during their visits.
To take the over all title, Jody triumphed over other shortlisted finalists from London, Brockenhurst, Broxburn, Chelmsford and Sunderland.
The Professional Beauty Awards are seen as the most prestigious and established awards scheme for the beauty, spa, nails and aesthetics markets.
They recognise those who it is believed make a real difference to the industry and encourage their ongoing development.
Married with one child, Jody was accompanied to the “brilliant” presentation night at Tobacco Dock by a close friend.
The celebrations then continued at home in the |Isle.
