Visits were made over 11 weeks as part of a scheme to improve services, that is now to be repeated.

A team of seven Home Check officers asked residents what they thought about current services. Tenants were asked about their concerns, offered advice on benefits, asked if they needed extra support and for the details of everyone living at the address.

Over 70 per cent of residents who were visited have been offered extra help with repairs, budgeting and benefit advice, along with extra support within homes from the Tenancy Support Team.

The Home Check scheme has been extended for another three months and a further 1,000 addresses will be chosen at random. Residents will be contacted before visits to arrange suitable times.

Darren Bonar, Senior Home Check Officer, said: “The scheme is going well; we’ve been able to offer extra help to over 70 per cent of residents.

“There are many tenants who we don’t get to see from one year to the next so it’s a chance for us to make sure people are happy living in their homes or identify any issues.”
