Tickets are now on sale for the next glittering Lex’s Legacy Pride of the Isle Awards night, to take place in the grandeur of the Vulcan Room at Finningley.
The event has outgrown its former venue and has moved to accommodate demand from the number of people wishing to attend.
Nominations for the awards are being taken now. Fill in a form for a child or adult who has displayed remarkable courage, a neighbour who works to improve the environment, a tireless charity fund-raiser or campaigner, a dedicated care worker, a member of the emergency services, or anyone who goes beyond the call of duty to help others.
There are male, female and child categories with nine awards in total. To make a nomination visit http://www.prideoftheisle.co.uk/nominate/4591767216.
Funds raised by the charity are for people needing help from around the area, and for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. So far over £65,000 has been raised and many children and families have benefited as a result.
On May 2 the Pride of the Isle committee stages a free Mad Hatters’ Tea Party for children in the Isle as a thanks for the support given to the charity. The Epworth youth centre party mayhem will be for 100 children in full fancy dress.
A night of entertainment takes place on June 24 in the Vulcan Room, with X factor finalist Peter Jones, the Adrenaline Brothers and The Steel City Horns, for which tickets are on sale at £10 each.
And a bit later in the year, on September 3 is the Lex Fest, with a full day of family fun and the It’s a Knockout Challenge, that currently can accommodate three more teams. A large funfair, pony rides, stalls, games and night time entertainment will all add to the mix.
Pride of the Isle is committed to helping children with disabilities and supporting children and adults who are terminally ill, helping them to create special memories.
