Isle butcher makes his mark at competition

A BUTCHER from the Isle has been highly commended at the 2011 Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage and Products Competition.

Dave Parkin - who has shops in both Crowle and Epworth - impressed judges in both the thin and thick pork sausage categories at the industry award ceremony which was held in Bradford last Sunday.

The annual competition is the UK’s biggest and best-known regional meat trades contest, organised by the Confederation of Yorkshire Butchers Councils.

It attracted 300 entries from across the county.

Previously Dave has won the 2009 Champion Speciality Sausage category and was runner-up in the same category last year.

He said: “It was a record entry as far as I am aware and we did will but not well enough. There was stiff competition.”
