Forget bric-a-brac... dog-loving rescuers at Conisbrough’s Doris Banham animal sanctuary shop have hit upon a sPOOCHy way to raise cash – by invoking Doris Stokes!

Customers calling at the Church Street charity shop can now pick up a spiritual message, as well as second-hand goods – from two local mediums who have volunteered their psychic gifts for free.

In exchange for a cash donation to the dog charity, local psychics June and Margaret are giving 30-minute readings in an upstairs room at the shop.

The weekly Monday afternoon sessions are proving so popular, the shop now has a waiting list.

And in line with consumer rights – if customers are not happy with their spiritual service – they do not have to pay!

The super-natural scheme was sparked after a staff member met the pair while attending Mexborough’s Spiritualist church.

She asked not to be named, but said: “I just asked them if they would like to help us – and it’s been a great success. Not only is it very popular, but people seem to be really happy with the messages they receive.

“We’ve only had one who didn’t pay – because no messages came though!

“All we ask is for happy customers to make a donation.”

Anyone wanting to book a session should call the shop.
