House fire in Rawmarsh

Arsonists were blamed for causing a fire at a home in Rawmarsh.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Dawson Avenue at about 9pm on Saturday night.

A brigade spokesman said the fire was started around the cat flap of the back door/

He added it was impossible at this stage to say wether someone had tried to push a lit object through the flap.

The occupants, a man and a woman, were out at the time.

Three fire crews from Rotherham and Dearne stations spent over an hour tackling the blaze.
