Yorkshire Ambulance Service launches new care scheme

Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust has launched a new scheme offering help and support to subscribers at the push of a button.

Called Independant, the telecare service works by users pressing a button on a pendant around their neck to call for help.

Users pay a weekly charge for the service and will get the most appropriate health or social care for each situation they find themselves in.

Rod Barnes, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said: “This service is designed to ensure users feel safe and secure in their own home and it provides reassurance to their families and carers.

“When people find themselves in a difficult situation, this service will provide the support they need.

“The service uses the latest technology.”
