Praise for four care homes in Sheffield and Rotherham

Four care homes in Sheffield and Rotherham have been recognised for their high standards.

Moorgate Hollow in Rotherham, Darwin House in Crosspool, Holmwood Care Home in Norton Lees and Swallownest Care Home have all been named in the top 20 facilities in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The list has been put together by online guide, with around 1,600 homes across the region examined.

Moorgate Hollow was the best-rated in South Yorkshire, finishing sixth in the regional list.

Manager Bridget Cooper said: “This accolade is made even more special as it is based on resident and family recommendations – my team and I work very hard to ensure our residents receive the ultimate in full-time care.”

Darwin House was 16th in the list.

Manager Cheryl Payne said: “At a time when the care industry is receiving a lot of bad press, it is refreshing to acknowledge and celebrate good service and quality care and we are thrilled that Darwin House has been commended in recognition of both.”

Holmwood Care Home was awarded 19th place, whilst Swallownest Care Home was 20th.

Holmwood Care Home manager Christine Hockley, said: “My colleagues at Holmwood are brilliant and they have a great relationship with the residents.”

Swallownest Care Home manager, Janette Myers, said: “My colleagues at Swallownest always put the residents first and go above and beyond to provide the kindest care – and it’s great that they have received recognition for their admirable work.”

Davina Ludlow, Director of, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to be recognised.”
