Classes aimed at helping new mums to keep fit have been launched in Doncaster.

The exercise classes, run by Fleur Holland at Dearne Valley Leisure Centre, are aimed at new mums and dads who want to keep fit but are struggling to do so because of child care issues.

Kraig Kelly, head of leisure at Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, said: “We are delighted to be hosting these new fitness classes for new mums and dads who couldn’t previously attend classes due to childcare issues.

“Fleur has launched the classes under the Fit Mums umbrella and parents are able to exercise comfortably with their baby with them. We’ve also put on a number of buggy fit classes which run during term time and have recently launched a running club. Our aim is to make fitness as accessible as possible to our local community and we know how important post-natal exercise can be in helping new mums to help their body recover after childbirth, keep them fit or improve fitness and generally help them to feel better and more energetic.

“These sessions are available to mums and dads in the local area who are looking to get into keeping fit.”
