A Doncaster counselling service is set to receive £436,000 of Lottery funding to continue to support children and young people in crisis.
Open Minds Counselling Ltd in Church Road, Doncaster is one of nine organisations to benefit from a share of £2.6 million of funding.
It will expand by partnering up with Doncaster PRIDE to offer group therapy for survivors of homophobic hate crime and bullying. Improving the wellbeing of beneficiaries will continue to be achieved through multiple therapy sessions including counselling, hypnotherapy and cognitive behaviour therapy and adults will have access to these services too. Over the next four years the project aims to benefit 1,300 adults and 400 children and young people.
Helen Mason, Managing Director for Open Minds Counselling Service Ltd said: “Since December 2007 Open Minds has already directly benefitted 1,809 people and the demand for our services has increased on average by 88 per cent each year. There is simply no one else in Doncaster doing this type of work.”
