HEADTEACHER Patricia Jones waved goodbye to pupils at Swinton Fitzwilliam Junior School for the last time on Friday March 18 - when she retired after 15 years at the school.

Mrs Jones started working at the school in September 1990 and was given a big send off by staff and pupils at a specially arranged assembly for her final day.

This week Mrs Jones spoke fondly of the children and colleagues that have been a constant figure in her life over the last 15 years.

She said: "I have memories of many events, both in school and in the Swinton community.

"I shall remember all the staff, the governors of the school, and other professionals I have worked with - but must of all I shall remember the children.

"They are what teaching is all about, and the reason I entered the profession.

"I would like to thank all members of our school community, the staff, the children and their parents who have helped to make my time at Fitzwilliam so memorable."
