Multi-million selling girl band The Saturdays will live up to their name when they arrive in Doncaster for a huge outdoor concert tonight.

The glamorous five-piece will be kicking off Doncaster Racecourse’s programme of summer music events with a spectacular show after racing on Saturday.

Organisers have been working around the clock preparing for the show, which is expected to attract thousands of music lovers of all ages.

Racecourse managing director Mark Spincer said: “We were thrilled to sign up The Saturdays.

“We are expecting the event to draw in huge crowds of people who will be able to enjoy some great racing before the live entertainment gets under way.”

Technicians have spent the last few days setting up the stage at Town Moor while catering and bar teams are also busy preparing for one of the venue’s biggest nights of the year.

The girls, who have racked up 12 top ten singles as well as three hit albums, are one of pop’s hottest properties and recently hit the number one spot with What About Us.

They will be joined for the concert by boy band Lawson who have also been making waves in the pop world, having notched up three top ten singles in the past few years - with When She Was Mine and Taking Over Me their biggest successes.

Tickets to watch the girl-band have been on sale since January and form part of a triple bill of concerts at the racecourse this summer.

Former Boyzone heart-throb Ronan Keating is due to appear at Town Moor on June 29 while indie pop favourites Scouting For Girls will complete the trio of pop favourites with an appearance on August 3.

Last year, Nutty Boy favourites Madness performed to more than 17,000 people at the course after a summer race meeting.

Mr Spincer added: “The Saturdays are one of the best girl groups around. Our outdoor concerts are hugely popular and it’s great to be able to bring major acts to Doncaster.”

Tickets for the concert are still available.

Adult tickets start from £30, children’s tickets are £11 while hospitality options are available from £80.
