Garage plans are passed by council

PLANNERS have given the green light for the redevelopment of a 24-hour fuel station in Belton.

SK Fuel Ltd has been successful in its bid to redevelop the existing Leyland Central Garage, located on the High Street, which will see a new kiosk building added as well as a car wash.

An application had been formally submitted last March and North Lincolnshire Council (NLC) approved the plans at a recent planning committee meeting.

There had been a number of objections to the proposals with Belton Parish Council and several High Street residents opposing the plans.

Concerns had been raised about parking, vehicle speeds and the proximity of the redeveloped site to All Saints’ Primary School.

A NLC site visit had taken place and permission was granted with several conditions attached, including the completion of a new access to the garage within three months of the planning decision. Current access facilities must be removed and these must be reinstated to a footpath and verge.

The revamped site cannot open until all parking, servicing and turning areas are also completed.

Work will take place on the current garage site and adjacent residential land.
