It’s spelled Qi Gong, pronounced shegung and this ancient form of Chinese gentle exercise is giving pensioners in Conisbrough a whole new lease of life.
The classes are held by qualified instructor Sandra Brown at the Ivanhoe Centre on Thursdays from 10am-11.30am.
Sandra explains: “Qi Gong is about using energy and skill to work with the breathing for health benefits. It helps in relaxation, de-stressing and helping with all sorts of stress-related things like headaches and bowel problems and lowers blood pressure.
“Everyone meets up for a coffee at the end of the class- as well as relaxing it’s a great way to socialise.”
