Great new opportunities for people to work as volunteers in local situations that can give valuable experience are up for grabs.

A new volunteer service will match people to placements, for the benefit of both local communities and residents.

The Volunteer Co-ordination service has created two new jobs and is based in Conisbrough and Denaby.

Due to start this month, the service will initially run for a year, funded by Doncaster Council and delivered by Doncaster West Development Trust (DWDT).

Local organisations and people living in Conisbrough and Denaby can register their interest to become a volunteer, or to offer volunteer placements and find out about opportunities.

DWDT staff will liaise between everyone involved, in the bid to help strengthen community organisations, support individuals, promote training opportunities and enhance employment prospects.

DWDT chief executive Marisa Graziano said volunteers could make a great contribution to organisations as well as benefiting personally from the experience.

“They bring diverse skills, enthusiasm and fresh ideas which can be hugely valuable to organisations especially at grass roots level,” she said. “The experience can also improve people’s self-confidence and skills and minimise social isolation as well as providing a route to employment. We welcome all enquiries.”

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer or in offering roles can telephone DWDT on 01709 866466 or email [email protected]. The initiative is part of the Well North project.
