A lorry smashed in to an Epworth home at the site of temporary traffic lights last night.

Burnham Road was closed for over two hours following the crash, in which no-one was seriously injured.

Both police and fire crews attended the scene by temporary roadworks, just after 6pm.

One local resident said: “It looked a bad accident. The lorry hit the corner house and there was chaos for a while.”

A spokeswoman for Humberside Fire Service said that the lorry driver was uninjured and had left his vehicle before they arrived.

She added: “ Fire service personnel isolated the electricity supply to the damaged property.”

Acro props were used to stabilise the roof of the hit property.
