Epworth councillor resigns

A VACANCY has arisen on Epworth Town Council following the resignation of one its newly-elected members.

Sue Goodliffe - who was only elected in May - has stepped down after citing work commitments which clash with her duties as a town councillor.

Her resignation letter was read out by the clerk at this month’s regular meeting.

The clerk is to inform North Lincolnshire Council of the vacancy on the 15-member grassroots authority.

If 10 or more registered voters from the Epworth parish call for an election within 28 days, to fill the vacancy, then one must be held.

Should this time elapse and no election is held then the town council can seek to co-opt a new member.
