Volunteer for garden work

A COMMUNITY group is appealing for volunteers to get involved with a scheme to create a community garden.

Rotherham Interfaith Group is urging people to lend a hand on its project at the Unity Centre, St Leonards Road.

Representatives from the local area, including residents, schools, colleges and churches are helping to develop a neglected piece of land, planting fruit, vegetables, flowers and shrubs.

Outreach worker Rowena Crehan, from Rotherham Ethnic Minority Alliance, said: “This is a really great project that the Rotherham Interfaith Group have started and we really need local people to get involved.

“You don’t need to be an experienced gardener and we welcome anyone who wants to be part of transforming this into something special.”
