ROTHERHAM has been picked as one of 17 areas across the country to be shortlisted for a project to boost the number of young people involved in enterprise.
The borough council will be among local authorities working with the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts and the LG Group over the coming months to challenge and develop their ideas.
Five areas will be selected to receive financial and non-financial support to put them into practice.
Rotherham Council submitted an idea to explore how the borough’s award winning programme to create a culture of enterprise in education – Rotherham Ready – could be replicated nationally.
The European-funded scheme promotes enterprise throughout education and then Rotherham Youth Enterprise supports young people to start businesses in the town, with 232 youth businesses launched in the last five years.
