A former Dearne Valley College student is making great strides in the beauty industry and has thanked the seat of learning for making his life a success.
Matt Taylor, 33, began studying at the college by travelling 16 miles every day from Barnsley as he gained a great insight into the industry he was to enter while studying for his level two and three beauty therapy certificates.
He said he had never forgotten his roots and, wherever he studied or lectured in the world, he always thought of where it first started.
The former DVC student added: “The friendliness and passion of my tutors at Dearne Valley College made my trips around the world worthwhile. I’ve always had a keen interest in beauty therapy and so I decided to pursue a career in this area.”
After the high-flying student had completed his studies, he decided to set up his own skin care business and began to establish himself in the popular and notoriously difficult to break into industry. He was eventually approached by international skin care brand Eve Taylor to work as part of their training and education team.
Matt said: “I accepted this fantastic opportunity and was carrying out training sessions, delivering presentations and taking part in demonstrations across the UK before taking the work global, travelling across Asia, including Malaysia and Singapore. I was tasked with the difficult challenge of producing and delivering training sessions to large groups of industry professionals, whose first language wasn’t English, but it was such a rewarding experience.”
