He was rewarded for his work as an apprentice with Active Regen, a company which runs programmes aimed at encouraging children, young people and adults to take part in sport.
He received the award, during Apprenticeship Week 2011, from Helen Gorner from the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) in a ceremony at the college.
Four other students were named the top apprentice in their subject.
They were: Jodie McCormack, 18, for Business and Administration; Shannon Bramhall, 17, for Childcare; Daniel Hawke, 24, for Construction; and Samuel Whitworth, 19, for Health and Social Care.
Doncaster-based St Leger Homes were also named Employer of the Year.
The college is currently taking part in the National Apprenticeship Service’s 100 in 100 Apprenticeships scheme.
This is a new initiative aimed at encouraging 100 local companies to recruit or train 100 apprentices in 100 days.
The college’s Business Development Manager, Kaye Jackson, said: “Our Apprenticeship Awards recognise hard work and personal achievement”.
She added: “The celebration also raised awareness of apprenticeship schemes and the benefits that an apprentice can bring to a business”.
