Anyone interested in working with children can gain qualifications from this month, through Barnsley’s Adult Skills and Community Learning.
A variety of courses provide nationally recognised qualifications for teaching assistants and early years workers at levels 1-3.
Courses can be taken part-time to fit around students’ other commitments. Fee reduction and childcare may also be available for eligible learners on most courses.
The guidance for level 3 early years’ qualifications has now changed and students can study for this course alongside GCSE English and maths.
Coun Roy Miller said: “Barnsley Council’s Adult Skills and Community Learning service provides an excellent pathway for beginning or enhancing a career working with children, and informal information sessions are available to help you decide which qualifications best suit you.”
