People taking part in an annual dragon boat event in Doncaster have helped to raise a record amount for charity.
The event, which was organised by The Rotary Club of Doncaster St George’s, in conjunction with Doncaster Tourism, raised a total of £13,178.
A total of £5,500 has already been donated to the Eve Merton Dreams Trust, which helps provide dream trips for people across Doncaster suffering from cancer.
The rest of the money is now set to be distributed among other charities across the borough.
John Day, of the Rotary Club of Doncaster St George’s, encouraged charities across the borough to apply for donations of between £500 and £800.
He said: “The fundraising has gone fantastically.”
