Doncaster-trained Hayley Turner, considered to be Britain’s most successful female jockey, is to take part in her final race this afternoon.

Hayley, 32, will retire at Doncaster Racecourse this afternoon, Saturday November 7.

She rode her first winner 15 years ago and has since gone on to be victorious in more than 750 races, including 100 during 2008.

She said: “When I started riding, I wanted a few rides and then I wanted a winner. When I had a winner I wanted to lose my claim and then I wanted a Listed winner - it’s just progressed.

“I never set my targets too high. When I had 100 winners in a year, that was special. It’s been amazing and I’ve been very lucky to have so many people supporting me. It’s all been a big blur really.”

Hayley is due to ride five times at the racecourse, Leger Way, from 1.30pm.
