A Doncaster ten pin bowling alley has changed hands for the first time in 25 years as part of a huge property deal.
The Doncaster Superbowl tenpin bowling centre at Lakeside has been sold to Tenpin Limited, a subsidiary of Essenden Plc.
Significant interest was generated in the purpose built, long leasehold property resulting in multiple bids in excess of the £2.15m guide price, culminating in the sale to Tenpin Ltd – the first sale of the property in a quarter of a century.
Developed in 1989, the 23,695 sq ft property was extensively refurbished in 2010 and provides 24 synthetic lanes as well as bar, breakout areas, amusement and catering facilities.
The property was offered for sale as part of a portfolio of 11 properties throughout Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire which includes other tenpin bowling centres, the Oasis portfolio of health clubs, the Welcome Inn Hotel in Rotherham and the Country Park Inn in Hessle.
Richard Darwin, Finance Director of Essenden plc the parent company of Tenpin Ltd commented “Doncaster Superbowl is a strong location. We are pleased to have made the purchase.”
Christie + Co Head of Leisure & Development Jon Patrick who coordinated the sale added: “Doncaster Superbowl was the jewel in the crown of this portfolio and the coordination of all parties resulted in a sale of the business within two weeks. We anticipate being able to report further sales from the portfolio in the near future and have been encouraged by the considerable interest shown from a variety of potential purchasers.”
