A Doncaster schoolgirl has put her best foot forward and is in line to win a national competition to have a pair of her own fashion boots created.

Sapphire Wroe, eight, has reached the last eight of a contest organised by leading footwear brand Kickers from thousands of entries to see her funky pink leopardskin design become a reality.

And if she wins, the big-hearted Copley Junior school pupil has pledged to donate her prize - a PlayStation - to ill youngsters at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

She said: “I am lucky and have everything I need and I am OK. I want children to have some fun when they are poorly.”

Mum Katharine said: “We are very proud of her. She did it all herself and spent hours on the design.”

Vote for Sapphire’s shoes to win at Voting closes at midnight on Sunday with the winning design announced on Monday.
