But he refused to be too harsh on the goalkeeper after the 2-2 draw.

Etheridge dropped a cross which allowed Matt Bloomfield to give Wycombe the lead.

Tommy Rowe and John Marquis turned the game on its head before the break but Etheridge fumbled a low show which let Bloomfield in to score on the rebound and secure a point for struggling Wycombe.

Ferguson said: "Two individual errors have cost us two points

"Let's make it black and white, that is what has cost us.

"Not tactics, not formations - it's two individual errors.

"But we win together and we lose together.

"The boy didn't try to do it, he's just made mistakes."

But he was disappointed they failed to open up a wider lead by the break and bemoaned a lack of control on the game in the second half.

He said: "I think the way the game went in the second half, and it is happening too many times, is that we were thinking we probably need another goal.

"Once you get control of the game like we did in the first half we should be more than one goal up at half time.

"The way the game transpired in the second half, I thought we gave too many fouls away and Akinfenwa keeps them in the game because he's a real target and a really good player at this level.

"What we didn't do well enough was keep the ball. We're running with it when we should be passing it, the first pass or the final pass was wrong."

The Rovers boss pointed to an injury to goalscorer Rowe as a point which disrupted Rovers' rhythm.

Rowe was taken off at half time after taking a knock in the aftermath of his equaliser.

And Ferguson was not confident of good news on the midfielder.

He said: "I don't think it's good.

"He;s been caught really badly on an old injury where he's got a screw in his foot, right in the same spot.

"We'll have to wait and see but he's in a lot of pain the lad.

"I've never known anything like the injuries we've had this season."
