Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity has launched a special Christmas appeal asking the people of Doncaster to get behind and celebrate the work of Weston Park Hospital over the coming festive season.

The Christmas Star Appeal, unveiled today, encourages people to give a gift to support the Cancer Charity’s work, and ultimately give families in this area a brighter future.

As a thank you for supporting the appeal, supporters will be sent a special silver star Christmas tree decoration.

Helen Gentle, fundraiser at Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity said: “We know Christmas can be a busy time of the year, but we’re asking people if they can pause to remember those families in our area who will be facing a difficult Christmas due to the devastating impact of cancer.”

“We very much hope that people will be able to support our appeal and help us fund world-class cancer research and treatments that will give more families the chance of spending more Christmases together.”

Weston Park Hospital is one of only four dedicated cancer hospitals in England and provides cancer care to a population of nearly 1.8million people from all across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire. The hospital is also home to an internationally recognised research facility.

The Christmas Star Appeal, sponsored by Irwin Mitchell, is being supported by both staff and patients from Weston Park Hospital. It is hoped the initiative will raise over £15,000 for the Cancer Charity.
