The Moonlight Drive In Cinema, which has returned to the Keepmoat Stadium for a week long residency, was forced to call off showings of Back To The Future and Suicide Squad last night after thieves made off with a generator.

Organisers have now offered a £1,000 reward and have pledged to bring in another generator to show the rest of the week's planned screenings.

A spokesman said: "We are offering a £1,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of a generator which was stolen from our site at the Keepmoat Stadium on the evening of 19 March or the early hours of 20 March.

"Unfortunately both showings this evening (Monday) have been cancelled. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this causes you."

On Sunday night, bad weather caused problems for cinemagoers after the screen was damaged by winds.

The spokesman added in a statement on Facebook: "There's a fair bit of negativity from some people as we've just had a bad run of luck this week.

"First the weather was against us now this so unfortunately we had to cancel screenings. Hoping to restore things back to normal by hiring another generator."

The stolen generator has "Andy Hire" signage all over it and was wheel clamped, chained to a post and surrounded by locked fencing when it was taken.
