Barnardo’s Big Toddle is a short sponsored walk for toddlers - it’s the UK’s biggest fundraising event with children under the age of five, with close to half a million across the country registering in 2015. Last year, toddlers in Doncaster dressed up as pirates and donned eye patches as they completed half a mile to raise money for the UK’s most disadvantaged children and young people.

The charity is now asking nurseries, child-minders and parents to register to take part in this year’s animal themed Big Toddle, which will be extra special to mark the Barnardo’s 150th anniversary this year.

Amanda Warrant, Barnardo’s fundraising manager, said: “We’re really grateful for the great support we’ve had from Doncaster toddlers and their families over the years. The event is a lovely opportunity for everyone to enjoy themselves and help raise vital funds for vulnerable children at the same time. Money raised goes to our work in the local area with children and young people, such as those who live in poverty or who have a disability.

“This is also a really special year for the charity, as it’s our 150th year. We’re really excited so many people are taking part our animal theme Big Toddle, and we’re hoping more people will sign up to join in the fun.”

Barnardo’s Big Toddle in 2016 is proudly sponsored by Aldi’s award-winning baby and toddler brand, Mamia.

Since the Big Toddle started in 1997 it has raised more than £14m for Barnardo’s.
