Auditions take place this month for the part of Sandy in the Steps’ company’s production of Annie Warbucks to be shown at Rotherham Civic Theatre from June 7 to 11.

Producer Ash White said: “Sandy the dog needs to be the loveable rogue of the whole show. Essentially light in colour with bags of personality. Longer haired dogs would be perfect.

“Although Sandy has a specific appearance, his personality needs to shine, showcasing his love. He will need to be great with kids. Steps will provide an experienced dog handler when Sandy is off stage.”

Travel expenses will be paid by the company along with two complimentary tickets to the show. An older, well-trained dog may be more suitable, but age is no barrier.

The four-legged cast members will be required at rehearsals on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings from May 17. 2016.

They will join a cast of 58 young people aged from seven to 11 for the show which has already sold over 2,000 tickets.
