Dog in manhole drama

A DOG had to be rescued by the Fire Brigade’s technical rescue unit after falling TEN feet down a Mexborough manhole.

Firefighters were called to Station Road, close to the United Carpets building, at 4.50pm on Sunday, after reports the dog had fallen down the hole.

The rescuers from the Dearne Station spent 40 minutes trying to pull the pooch out.

A Fire Service spokesman said he did not know whether the dog had been hurt in the fall, or if it had been with an owner when it fell.
