The Jet Airways flight from Amsterdam to Toronto in Canada was forced to land at Shannon Airport in Ireland earlier today after the pilot reported a fuel leak.

The Boeing 777 had already started its flight across the Atlantic Ocean this morning when the plane was forced to turn back to make an unscheduled landing at the airport near Limerick.

Earlier, its flightpath had taken it directly across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

Airlive, a Twitter account dedicated to tracking flight movements, tweeted: "Jet Airways #9W234 to Toronto is reporting fuel leak and diverting to Shannon."

The plane landed safely.
