The air force sent one of its huge C-17 Globemaster transport jets, as well as one its C-17 Hercules transporters to use what is now Doncaster Sheffield Airport to train its crews.
RAF Brize Norton said the aircraft were operating in the vicinity of Doncaster yesterday, whilst engaged in essential training for their aircrew.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport was opened at the site of the former RAF Finningley base, which was closed in 1996.
It was once home the part of Britain’s fleet of Vulcan bombers, during the Cold War.
