A DRUGS operation in the Dearne saw 15 drug busts over six weeks and included raids on five addresses in one day. Operation Bootlace was launched with the help of the public and was a major success, said projects officer Allan Sneddon. Mr Sneddon told the Dearne South Neighbourhood Partnership that thousands of pounds worth of cannabis had been seized.
One drugs den had a false wall with a sophisticated set up of push-button watering devices behind it, while a rented home at Victoria Street, Goldthorpe, was “an indoor jungle”. Five arrests were made.
Firefighters battled to put out a blazing Volvo in Mexborough last Wednesday night. Crews from Dearne station arrived at Wath Road at 11pm. The cause is not yet known.
