RESIDENTS of Dearne Valley Care Centre are having a St Patrick’s Day celebration today (Thursday).
A NON-UNIFORM Day will be held at Highgate School tomorrow (Friday) as part of the school’s Red Nose Day activities. Staff will also be taking along photographs of themselves as children and pupils will compete to guess who each picture is of.
AFTER School Clubs at Highgate School are: Monday: Cheerleading; Tuesday: Strictly Come Dancing, Art, IT, Baking, Football, Construction and Board Games; Wednesday: Street Dance; Thursday: Sewing, Choir, Football, Baking, Sports Active and Fashion Design.
CITIZENS’ Advice sessions are held each Thursday on a drop-in basis from 9.30am to noon at Wombwell Library. On March 24 from 2pm to 4pm there will be help available for filling in census forms at the library. Two new classes in Art and Researching Family History have begun at the library, tel 01226 753846 for details. A readers’ group operates the third Friday of each month from 1pm to 2pm and is open to all.
WOMBWELL Cricket Lovers’ Society meet tonight, March 17, for ‘Inns and Outs’, or ‘cricket pub names and signs’ with Anthony Collis and Geoff Wellsteed. On March 31 the coaching awards will be presented, with Arnie Sidebottom.
WALKERS are invited to Wombelling around Wombwell - a nine mile walk on March 20, with Barnsley 20s and 30s Walking Group. Meet 10.30am Wombwell rail station. Walk will take in Trans Pennine trail and woodland. Contact Ian 07974 733584
NEW courses from Wombwell Learning Net include an Introduction to Early Years on Thursdays, an Emergency Lifesaver taster on March 17 from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, and a Confidence Building taster on March 22, 10am-noon at the Wombwell Centre, Barnsley Road.
FAITH Church Bible Studies takes place on Fridays, from 7pm, run by the Rev John Mills.
BISHOP Cyril, of Doncaster, and the Rev David Hildred will conduct an All Age Worship and Baptism service at All Saints’ Church, Darfield, on Sunday at 10am. A communion service will be conducted by the Rev John Stride at 6.30pm.
MR DES Haynes will be the preacher at Darfield Wesley Church on Sunday at 10.30am. The Sunday School will also meet at 10.30am.
A LENT course entitled “Lost For Words” will be held at Darfield Valley Methodist Church from 7-9pm every Wednesday until April 13. The event has been organised by Darfield Churches Together and everyone is welcome to attend.
REV Derek Orange will conduct a communion service at Valley Methodist Church on Sunday at 10.30am.
