A COFFEE morning is being held at Bolton Hall Nursing Home today (Thursday) from 10.30am.

A SPORTS day with games, a raffle, bingo and tombola will be held at Bolton Hall Nursing Home from 10.30am on July 6, proceeds for Dementia Awareness. There are also plans to hold a Yorkshire Day on August 1.

A SUMMER fair will be held at Bolton Hall Nursing Home on July 16.

DEARNE Valley Care Centre will hold a summer fair on Saturday, July 9.


DUE to holidays there will be no men’s breakfast at Valley Methodist Church in July.

A PIANO recital by Jill Crossland will be held at Darfield Wesley Church tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm. Admission free. Refreshments will be served afterwards and there will be a retiring collection at the end of the evening.

DARFIELD Wesley Companions Group will meet on Wednesday at 2.30pm, when there will be a talk about the South Yorkshire Pets’ Ambulance.


2ACT Theatre Company will be putting two productions on at Thurnscoe Little Theatre next week. On Tuesday and Wednesday at 7.15pm they will perform Educating Rita and on Friday and Saturday at 7.15pm they will perform Shakers. Tickets cost £6.

A FIVE-WEEK Health and Wellbeing course will be held at Thurnscoe Library beginning on July 5. Sessions will be from 1-3pm and anyone interested in attending should book via the library, on 01709 890001.

HEAD Teacher’s Awards for speaking clearly in sentences when asked questions were recently presented to the following pupils at The Hill Primary School: Kieron Finney, Liam Cresswell, Ethan Rodgers, Thomas Feast, Ember Gollings, Ben Wheat, Lucas Johnson, Kyra Taylor, Leah Turton, Jay Poxton, Petra Milewski, Lewis Godley, Ellie Jarman and Penny Unsworth. Last week’s assemblies was held for a different class or year group each day. Parents were invited to attend and after assembly they visited their children’s class to look at displays of their work. Last week was also Healthy Eating week at the school and classes took it in turn to make smoothies for the rest of the school. A Healthy Eating Workshop for pupils and their parents was held last Thursday – when Year 6 also had a trip to Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium for Enterprise Day. On Friday a team of 10 pupils took part in a hockey tournament at Dearne Cricket Club.
