Youngsters from Key Stage One at Belton’s All Saints’ Primary School dressed up as their favourite book characters, in one activity among several to focus attention on the importance of books and reading.

Healthy eating and time travel were among topics covered by the Education Group’s Story Factory, when they visited the school and held separate workshops with years three to six.

Actress Gemma Moorhouse kept children captivated in the sessions that included audience participation.

Y3 and 4 teacher Ann Black said: “The children became very involved with their activities and you could see their enthusiasm building by their expressions.”

There were also special book displays in school throughout the week.

The whole exercise was a success and is likely to be repeated, said Ms Black.
