WITH CCTV FOOTAGE: Police launch appeal after woman allegedly raped in Doncaster town centre alleyway

Doncaster detectives have today released this CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an alleged rape, believed to have taken place in an alleyway off a busy town-centre street.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 12.40am on Monday, August 31, when it is believed a 26-year-old woman was attacked in an alleyway leading from Silver Street, between VDKA and Grafitti bar.

The woman is receiving support from specialist officers and extensive enquiries have been carried out but at this time, no arrests have been made.

Investigating officers have today (Wednesday, October 7) released moving footage of a man they believe might hold information that could help officers.

Detective Constable Andy Eshelby said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a young woman on a night out in Doncaster town centre.

“As it was a bank holiday weekend, the town would have been busy so I’d appeal to anyone who was in the Silver Street area between 12am and 1am on the Sunday evening into Monday morning to think back and see if they witnessed any suspicious activity.

“We’re keen to speak to anyone who might have witnessed the incident or who may recognise the man in the footage.”

Please call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident 139 of August 31 2015.
