Burglars broke into a home, pinched the car keys and then made off with the vehicle from the driveway.

The culprits broke in through a side door at Anchorage Crescent in Sprotbrough between 3am and 8.40am on Thursday, March 6.

Once inside, they stole the keys to an £8,000 black Ford Focus and drove off in the vehicle, which has the registration plate YK06 PRZ.

South Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A force spokeswoman said: “Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or who thinks they may have seen the stolen car is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on: 101 and quote incident number 195 of 6 March, 2014.”

The incident is being investigated as part of Operation Lockdown to combat house burglary and vehicle crime. Launched in October, more than 1, 400 suspects have so far been arrested.
