Rotherham drivers fined over disability parking badge fraud

Two Rotherham men have been prosecuted for the fraudulent use of disability parking badges.

Tariq Ibrahim, aged 44, of Oxley Grove, Moorgate, used his father’s blue badge to park on Howard Street in Rotherham town in April when his father was not present.

He was fined £200 penalty and ordered to pay £450 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Afaq Faruq, 41, of Middlefield Drive, Whiston, admitted using his wife’s blue badge to park his car in Main Street, Rotherham, when she was not with him.

He was fined £100, with £100 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Martin Beard, Parking Services Manager for Rotherham Council, said: “We will continue to prosecute where it is in the public interest to do so.”
