Road safety advice will be issued in South Yorkshire next week as part of UN Global Road Safety Week, aimed at keeping youngsters safe.

South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership will be handing out advice to promote road safety.

Representatives will visit Playmania, Elsecar; Mothercare, Parkgate; Treasure Island, Hellaby and Toys R Us, Sheffield Retail Park.

New figures show that in 2013, there were 62 children under 15 years old killed or seriously injured on South Yorkshire roads.

Last year Jasmyn Chan, aged 14, was killed by a hit-and-run driver as she crossed Normanton Hill, Intake, Sheffield.

Her killer, Naseeb Ellahi, 34, formerly of St Ronan’s Road, Sharrow, was jailed for seven-and-a-half years.
