Police have issued a warning after a vial of a potentially fatal drug was stolen from an ambulance in Barnsley.

The vial of the drug epinephrine was in a long purple box with the drug’s name on the side.

Police said today it could be fatal if taken or injected.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Five vials were initially stolen, four have been found. However there is still one outstanding and police would urge anyone who finds the vial to please either contact police on 101, hand it in at any police station or take it to Accident and Emergency at Barnsley Hospital on Gawber Road.”

The ambulance was parked on Queen’s Drive in Dodworth, Barnsley on Tuesday evening when the drugs were taken, the spokeswoman said.
