Police are hunting the owner of a dog which killed an other dog in an attack in Rotherham.

Officers were told a lurcher-type dog being walked off its lead attacked a Schnauser near Ravenfield ponds, Ravenfield.

The owner of the lurcher gave the Schnauser owner a fake number.

He was with a woman and three small children.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “It is reported that a woman was walking her dog, a pedigree Schnauzer, near the Ravenfield ponds when an unknown man approached with a lurcher-type dog that was not on a lead.

“The woman was not injured but has been left considerably distressed.

“Did you witness the incident? Were you in the area near to the ponds at the time?”
