Police probe launched following discovery of man’s body in Rotherham

A police probe is under way into the death of a man in Rotherham.

Detectives are investigating following the discovery of a body in a property in Cavendish Road, Rotherham, at midday yesterday.

They want to trace a man who made an anonymous call to the police from a phone box in College Road, Masbrough.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called at around 12.05pm yesterday to a property in Cavendish Road, Rotherham, where the body of a man was discovered.

“The man has not yet been formally identified and the investigation is in its very early stages.

“A forensic post mortem examination is yet to take place.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

“Police received a call from an anonymous caller, a man who they believe used a phone box in the College Road area of Masbrough.

“Officers urgently need to identify this man and would ask anyone who saw a man using a telephone kiosk in this area yesterday lunchtime to call police on 101.”
